The University of Northampton Product Design students had the opportunity of developing their hand drafting skills in a masterclass led by Paul Piliste, a first-class honours University of Northampton Product Design graduate, with three years experience designing plastic products and commercial interiors for Arnold Plastic Engineering. At the moment, he is furthering his studies at the Royal College of Art and is due to graduate this summer.

The masterclass addressed the core skills of sketching, which include concept development, idea generation, 2D sketch and render work, clay modelling and 3D modelling in Alias, SolidWorks and Rhino.

The day culminated with an illustrated talk around Paul's professional CV and portfolio, which aimed not only to inspire, but also to encourage the students to look beyond their academic activities to the professional world; to follow their dream and work hard to make it happen.
